Hybrid Icing

I mentioned before Joni Pitkanen’s heel injury that most likely ended his career. It was that incident that sparked the talk of either no touch or hybrid icing. It’s sad that it took another career-ending injury to start it up. Anyway, moving on, the decision to implement hybrid icing was made today. I am very glad the NHLPA decided to agree to this. Some fans complain that games may be decided off a missed icing call, just as the delay of game penalty, but to me it’s better than another player’s career being cut short. I would think a lot would agree. Really, I don’t understand the delay of game argument when any penalty or missed call can change the course of a game anyway.
