The Rangers disposed of the Canadiens in six games in a series that lived up to my expectations. It was a duel of the goaltenders Henrik Lundqvist and Carey Price. While Price was great, Lundqvist was even better.
I had predicted Boston to win the series against Ottawa, but the Senators proved me wrong, defeating Boston also in six games. Their defense, led by the stellar Erik Karlsson, was a big part of their series victory.
I expect this matchup to be a low scoring affair with Lundqvist in the pipes for the Rangers and the stingy defense of the Senators followed by Anderson in goal. I believe Lundqvist can be the biggest difference in this series, especially if Ottawa continues their shots per game average, which is five lower than what he faced in round one. The Rangers have to find a way to score, however, and help Lundqvist out. I expect more than a 7.7 shot percentage from them since they won’t be facing Price, but they’d still have to get through the defense of Ottawa, or they won’t be seeing more goal scoring. I think this will be a close series with the Rangers coming out on top.
