Well, there isn’t much at all to say about Ottawa. They did almost nothing this offseason. The only move was naming Guy Boucher as head coach. After an amazing run in March in the 2015 season, coming from 10 points out to making the postseason, they missed the playoffs this year. They finished with a 38-35-9 record and 85 points. It was almost the opposite of 2015; they were in the race most of the season, but dropped out in the last month. Their main problem was defense and goaltending. Hammond wasn’t as good as he was at the end of the previous season, and the defense didn’t provide much help. Their penalty kill was dead last at 75%, which really hurt them.
Making no moves this offseason, they aren’t going anywhere this season. With the improving teams in the East, I don’t think they have any shot at the postseason.
