One of the biggest names in the trade market is Eric Staal. It’s been assumed for weeks now that Staal will be traded, and with the trade deadline approaching Monday, it looks as though it is inevitable a move will be made. One rumor has really caught my attention. Teams interested include Dallas, St. Louis, and I believe Minnesota, but the frontrunner at the moment is the New York Rangers, which is understandable considering his brother, Marc Staal, is on the team. The Rangers cannot afford to re-sign Chris Kreider, J.T Miller, Kevin Hayes, and Dylan McIlrath, so it is presumed that, if Eric gets shipped to New York, the one heading to Carolina will be Kreider. What I have been thinking would be the return is a prospect and a pick, so this, as much as I love Eric Staal, is an exciting rumor. Now, it is not confirmed Kreider will be in the deal if a trade to New York is completed, but it is said to be very likely he will.
