Trade Update

Nashville and Toronto have completed a trade, which has been noted to have finalized last night. Nashville trades Olli Jokinen, who has only scored 3 goals and 3 assists in 46 games, for cap space. For someone who can score 50-60 points in a season, he has really underperformed. Nashville also gives up their first rounder and prospect Brendan Leipsic. In return, they receive Cody Franson and Mike Santorelli. Olli Jokinen was less than thrilled to hear the news that he was traded to Toronto. As far as I know, though, Toronto is supposedly going to trade him as well, only taking Jokinen to help Nashville free up some money.

A quick report on prospect Leipsic: he is an energy guy, small but hits hard. He gets under opponents’ skins, is skilled offensively, and has good vision. Leipsic is being compared to Brendan Gallagher.

For the Leafs, they are expected to trade Daniel Winnik, but wait until the deadline. There is a lot of interest in him.
