Despite having a very similar heartbreaking end to the season as 2013, the Blues didn’t need much help; they were the top in the league up until the six game losing streak to finish the year. That didn’t stop them, though.
The Blues signed the top free agent Paul Stastny to a 4 year, $28 million contract. This adds an offensive force to an already strong offense. The only question coming into the season is goaltending. Miller headed to Vancouver this offseason, and of course they traded Halak for Miller. They elected to put their trust into Brian Elliot, instead, re-signing him to a 3 year, $7.5 million contract. He isn’t a proven starter, but posted a 1.96 GAA and a .922 SV% and had an 18-6-2 record last season.
The Blues will be a top team again this year.
