The Blues ended 4th last season in the West. They were 29-17-2 with 60 points. I predicted them to win their division, but the Blackhawks amazing start to the season prevented it from happening. Their season did not come to an easy end, though. Up 2-0 in the first round of the playoffs, the Kings came back and won the series in 7. They had a pretty good offseason, at least enough for them to make another post-season run.
The Blues have a better offensive core with the addition of Derek Roy this offseason. Last season, the offense wasn’t great, but it wasn’t bad either. Roy can score up to 80 points in a full 82 game season, with the ability to score 30 goals. Another important move was re-signing Jay Bouwmeester to hold together their defensive strength. With their strong defense, allowing only 115 goals last season, an improved offense, which was enough to get by already, they will be a force to be reckoned with. I have to include the goaltending tandem of Halak and Elliot as a key part of their season, as well.
Not much else is needed to say about the Blues; they will be in the top 3 in the Central Division.
