The Predators had a disappointing season at 16-23-9, last in offense, and not the best defense. Losing Ryan Suter was a blow to the team. They had a successful offseason.
First, they drafted Seth Jones, which will definitely help their defense. He was the best defenseman in the draft, and will be a superstar.
The offense is where they need the most improvement, and I think the Preds did a nice job covering that area. First, they signed Matt Cullen, who, like I mentioned when analyzing Minnesota, is a solid second-line forward. Grabbing Viktor Stalberg will help both in the physical game and offensively. Eric Nystrom is a solid depth player who fits in well in the bottom 6. 20-30 points isn’t bad for a 3rd to 4th liner. Next in forward Rich Clune, who was most likely added to bring some depth in the AHL, and serve as a call up.
I believe they can make the playoffs this season, improving their defense with drafting Seth Jones, and bringing some offense, physicality, and depth.
