Anaheim Ducks 2013-14

The Ducks finished the 48 game season 30-12-6, 2nd in the Western Conference, 3rd in the league.  They were 6th in offense, and in the top 10 in defense as well.  They had a successful offseason.

I believe they grabbed the better end of the Bobby Ryan deal, actually.  In return, they acquired Jakob Silfverberg, who will become a good scorer in the NHL, and scored only one less goal than Bobby Ryan this season.  The Ducks also acquired prospect Stefan Noesen, who will become a very good NHLer, and a 2014 first round pick.  It looks like the Ducks have a bright future ahead of them.

In free agency, the Ducks signed Dustin Penner, a physical player at 6’4″, 245 lbs; he will bring some toughness to the team.  The scoring between him and Silfverberg may be able to replace Ryan’s offensive ability.

Overall, I believe the Ducks will have another successful year and end up as one of the top 3 teams in their division.  I believe they have a chance to become a consistent threat in the NHL, also.
