Anything Can Happen

I have been surprised about some teams to start the season, such as the Chicago Blackhawks, Tampa Bay Lightning, Ottawa Senators, and the Washington Capitals.

I’ll start with the Chicago Blackhawks. They’ve had a tremendous start to the season, with a 6-0-0 record before losing to the Minnesota Wild in overtime on Wednesday night. The play of the Chicago Blackhawks is led by Patrick Kane, Marian Hossa, and Jonathan Toews. Kane has 2 goals and 8 assists, Hossa has 5 goals and 4 assists, and Toews has 4 goals and 3 assists. They are neck and neck with the St. Louis Blues, and it might just be a tight race for the division title.

The Tampa Bay Lightning have also had a fast start to the season. They are at a 5-1-0 record, defeating the Washington Capitals, Carolina Hurricanes, Florida Panthers, Ottawa Senators, and Philadelphia Flyers; their only loss was to the New York Islanders. I am impressed with the way they are playing.

I haven’t predicted the Ottawa Senators to make the playoffs, yet so far they are leading the Eastern Conference. They have a 5-1-1 record. They are a hard team to beat so far, and have come from behind on multiple occasions.

The play of Washington Capitals has kept spiraling down. They have a 1-5-1 record, and have not picked up the play so far during season. This is really a surprise to me, as they look like a playoff team that would compete for the division title. Ovechkin needs to pick up his play, and they need to tighten up defensively. They also need to work on maintaining leads throughout the game.

I don’t know what to say about the Philadelphia Flyers, who will have a 2-5-0 record, playing almost as bad as the Capitals.
