The Nashville Predators have been a strong team the past couple years. They ended up 4th in the Western Conference last season, defeating the Red Wings in round 1 of the 2012 playoffs. Their off-season was very disappointing, as 9 players departed.
The worst loss was Ryan Suter, who I said before is an elite two-way defenseman. They also lost Jordin Tootoo, a good checking line forward with some speed. Andrei Kostitsyn left, a 40 point scorer. Forward Kyle Wilson, who, given a chance at a full season in the NHL, can maybe score 30+ points. The Predators lost a solid goaltender in Anders Lindback. Defenseman Tyler Sloan signed with Dallas. Another point scorer, Alexander Radulov, departed. The last loss was Francis Bouillon.
Nashville almost lost Shea weber, another elite defenseman, to Phillidelphia. They offered an insane contract, and the Predators desperately matched the offer.
The only additions were Mike Moore, a defenseman who has only played 6 NHL games, the rest in the AHL, and Chris Mason, a solid goaltender.
I’m not sure how the Preds will do. I think they’ll make the playoffs, but in one of the last (6th, 7th, or 8th).
