The Minnesota Wild started off the season with a 20-7-3 record, but ended with only 35 wins, outside the playoff picture. They had a great off-season. They needed improvement all-around, especially offensively. They had the lowest number of goals-for at 177.
The Wild lost Nick Johnson, Warren Peters, Guillaume Latendresse, and Mike Lundin this past off-season. They are all good players, but they weren’t big losses compared to who the Wild signed. They picked up huge names in the free-agent market. The first one was Zach Parise, a star forward who played for the New Jersey Devils. He can score 80+ points in a season. They also grabbed Ryan Suter, an elite two-way defenseman from the Nashville Predators; he can score 40+ points. They also signed skill in Zenon Konopka, Torrey Mitchell, and Jake Dowell.
Zach Parise will definately improve their offense, and Suter will help the defense. I might see them in a playoff spot this year.
